    Default Meinl Snare Cajon Bongos.

Here's the story. I was a kit player for years, indeed still am. I found myself many times with groups of friends where they're all jamming accoustically. Guitars and voices. Unfortunately I don't play guitar, and can't sing. ()

So what to do. I thought of a Cajon, they're very big over here, (Mallorca, Spain,) but it seemed a lot to carry, and it's a real statement of intent. ("I've bought this, we're going to jam whether you feel like it or not.") I wanted something more portable, and something I felt I could play with the guys. I though of Bongo cajons, but then saw the snare version. That sounded just the thing. My wife was lost for something to buy me for xmas... so....

I am now the proud owner of a snare bongo cajon. I love it. It will do latin sounding stuff, but my first wish was to use it for something like this:-

I think it fits perfectly. When playing, the snares give a continuity of sound like a hi-hat does when playing kit, allowing me to play around with high and low tones for bass, snare fills etc. The above was after only having it a few days, and not much practice for me, and absolutely no rehearsal for the guys, but...Well we enjoyed it!

    Cheers
