I didn't listen to the example you have there but you don't want to run your mic into the EQ then the mixer. your stuck with that EQ. A preamp would be ok. Record as clean as possible to the recorder or hard drive, then EQ and add EFX. Plug your mic into the mixer and leave the channel flat into your recorder with a good hot signal without distorting. then EQ it and add efx on the way out / playback. You have a lot more sonic options that way.
I record vocals Mic to preamp into a channel of my mixer then the direct out of that channel to the DA converter.
