    CycleDude--looks great! I've been working on my blue set for the last month or so; will have to try the vinegar out. Haven't made my way to the bass drums yet, but I think I'll take a cue from you and make sure my wife is awake before dunking in the tub!

    By the way, what kind of 'cycle do you ride? I have an 04 R1100S. Does Vistalite ownership demand a bike?

    My 78 Ludwig Vistalite is going to be restored. It's at my brother's house and I'm going there today to see my neice for her 6th birthday and bring my Luddies home.

    Does anyone know anything about cleaning or scratch removal from the acrylic shells, as I dont want to use a chemical that would deteriorate the acrylic.

    I've already ordered a few parts, like some lugs and such.

    Hey cycledude;
    glad to hear you're taking on such a job. If you go to
    www.vistalites.com
    go to the top menu bar and look for "Links"
    there you'll find www.vistalitedrums.com
    run by Ken Verducci. In there is a section on
    Care & Cleaning. Hope this helps, and good luck!

    Welcome to Drum Chat DLD!

    Once you get all the hardware off, the acrylic shells could be washed without any damage. That is, unless you drop them in the tub!

    thanks for the welcome you guys
    well ive been trying to upload some pics of my kit but it says im not allowed to post attachments so i dont know whats up with that??
    im not sure if i wanna keep the kits original pieces or possibly modernize it by adding R.I.M.S on the toms. replacing the hoops, and add a new mounting system because the drum thats supposed to be the floor tom is legless!
    all my toms are 'open toms' so ya any opinions on what route i should take? thanks
