i didnt really notice a real change in the sound, but i do like the way they feel a little better. supposedly they're sturdier too, not that i'm much of a stick killer.

I'm comfortable with three different sticks.....
1. SILVERFOX hickory 5A's (my main preference)
2. Vater Studios.
3. Pro Mark Hickory 5Bs
I've heard lots of great reviews on SliverFox sticks. I actually watched a "How It's Made" where the SilverFox drumstick company was featured in the show. They match each stick with the equalivant tonal characteristics. That's pretty cool in my book!

I chimed in since this thread looked pretty dead. I don't march but I use the Promark DC3S for practice pad work. The heavy weight enables me to build up muscle memory and my double strokes have improved alot. I know those in marching band are a select few but there are some applications as far as sticks are concerned that crossover to those of us who don't march. Thanks!

Right now at my college band we're using Vic Firth MS5s (old sco jos) but I prefer the Promark DC50s that we use in the independent WGI ensemble that I'm in.
Drums:
Ludwig Classic Maple
Tama Starclassic Performer
Cymbals:
20" K ride
20" K custom dry ride
16" A custom crash
14" New Beat hats
14" K custom dark crash
Ensembles
Oregon Crusaders (DCI) 09 - bass 4
OC Indoor (WGI) '10 - Snare 3rd place PIO
OC Indoor (WGI) '11 - Snare PIW FINALIST!
University of Oregon marching band '09 '10 '11 - Snare
I play Tenors so I just started using the Bill Bachman Signature "Billy Clubs" and I am really starting to enjoy using them. But for snare, I started using the Jeff Queen signature series and those are real nice.

I use vic firth magnums for practice on the pad... They've done wonders for me, it's like doing rudiments with hand weights. Wonderful sticks too. I'm also getting 2B vic firth vic grip nylons for practice on the set. Theyre very good as well.
So itchie, how did the kick sound?

I usually have different sticks for different times and genres of drumming. For Rock- Vater Los Angeles 5A, for school band- Vater Fusion 7A preferably, for metal- Zildjian Back Beat 5A, for school praise band/chapel ensemble I have Promark Cool Rods, and for just practice I have some generic sticks.

Right now I just have a pair of Vic Firth Corpmasters for marching. Everything else - basically jazz band and any concert piece where I need sticks - I use Vic Firth 5A's. Work great for me, wouldn't mind trying out some other marching sticks though.
VF X5Bs, been liking these for a while now. But it always seems to change from time to time.

I may be getting a Snare and like Pro Mark's DC series sticks but was also looking at the flared handle sticks I think VF is making them. I'm pretty sure the ones I was looking at said it was a tenor stick but anybody use those for snare?
How long have the flared handle sticks been out?

Has anyone used the new Bosso bamboo sticks? I'd like to know what you think.
Zickos, pretty cool about the Orange Bowl. 1968! when football was better. I found this, there's some band members at the end of the video.
