Here are some photos of what I have now. I've been playing and collecting for 40 years. I think I have had every conga there is. If you need info. I'll be glad to help in anyway. Junior Tirado set, Timbas Ismael set, Skin on Skin set.

My favorite congas are Junior Tirado's. Junior is not with us anymore, he passed away in 2006. Presently I consider "Skin on Skin" and Matt's Smith "Ritmos" the best congas made, these are custom made instruments and there is a wating period involved, however, I think is woth the wait because you get quality plus.
For skins I prefer mule for the macho (lead drum) and cowhide for the hembra, mule is somewhat difficult to find, but there are a few sources available.

Beautiful sets Dario! To have such beautiful sets, you must be an extraordinary player.

    Cool Re: My Conga Collection

Welcome aboard Dario! Doctorumba, you have some cool-lookin' congas in your collection...I agree with GF that the Echo Tones are beautiful, but the Skin on Skin congas caught my eye; they look like they've been well-played (and played well)...those look like old-school congas and I wouldn't mind jammin' on them myself!

    Cool Re: My Conga Collection

Dario, you just outdid yourself with those Skin on Skins -- not to mention the bata drum -- and I love that figure on top of the bata. I shouldn't be surprised a conga man would have a drumming figure as part of his collection! (Wouldn't mind scoring some drumming decor like that myself.)

I had 5 Cuban made SONOCS (Sonoridad Cubana) made from Caoba wood. These are very melodic congas, the wood has been on the endangered species for over 20 yrs. They sound incredible, the only thing is that they kept on splitting every so often with the humidity here in Miami, also the glue used in Cuba is not of good quality. I finally sold them all, but as far as sound they are one of the better sounding congas.

The 5 by the pool are all SONOCS, some of the crowns were made by Junior and I removed the SONOC crowns. When it came to the finish product, Juniors are better made than SONOCS, but they are both great sounding congas.
