    alright, so after buying some new heads and spening hours looking up tuning advice. for a 14x5.5 wood snare if you want a sharp crack, yet a full sound. okays so

    batter: evans G2 coated snare ( remo equilvalent= coated emperor snare)

    Reso: Evans Hazy 300 (remo equivlaent= ambassador hazy)

    drum dial time! (when i bought a head i spent an hour at g.c cuz i have a bud who works there and im a pretty regular customer so they help me out a ton and we tried a drum dial on it)
    batter: 90
    reso= 80

    snares= slighty above medium tension.

    great crack, yet balance. perfect for my jazz/rock fusion stuff.

    just thought id share, and f i have a tip: anyone who stil has stock heads, upgrade. you have no idea how your drums truly sound until you put good heads (cough*evans* cough). spend time tunign, once you hit it its like nirvana. i just couldnt stop playing today. i tested my snare with music from micheal jackson to paramor to count basiemicheal buble to metallica. it worked well in a ll situations. just try to find that balance. trust me youll love it. just thought id share. oh and i got chad smith funk blaster (vater) sticks on clearance. sweet.

    i tune my snare really tight! i get and awesome pop out of it and its loud. i have had great responses on the sound of my snare....and i have the head that came on it, not upgraded yet. after i finger tighten the lugs i tighten about 3 1/2 to 4 turns on both sides.
