    I was just wandering what kind of skins anybody thinks give a good sound for recording.

    Same one's that sound good live! Just teasing.

    It really depends on the sound you want and how you are mic'ing the drums. If you are close mic'ing you are going to need to control overtones more. The CS's you have do that, but might be too dead if you want to hear the tom. The new EC2 SST's are supposed to be really nice if you want a controlled sound.

    Unfortunately there isn't one answer to that question.

    I say coated ambos or g1's. You can always dampen down a head thats to open, but you cant open up a predampened one.
