    Question World Percussion Mounting

would it be wise to mount all my new LP equipment to the front of my acousic set or should i configure it all to the side or behind. i was thinking of mounting the cp bongos above my toms, just wanted some insight from other world players.

32nd--putting the bongos up above the toms is a good idea if you use sticks or brushes (some guys do...I've seen that done with quite a few kits, but it could hamper you if you're playing with hands as well as sticks--especially if you're short).

If you're playin' with both hands and sticks, you might want to set the hand drums off to one side (left or right, depending on your preference). Personally, I set my hand drums to my right.

Or for a (pun intended) offbeat set-up, you could switch out your snare with a conga or congas, keeping the high-hat and bass. I saw a dude who did that who was performing on the "Today" show several years ago, and it really kicked...the dude was keeping the 4/4 beat with the bass and high-hat and was tearin' up the congas!

Let me know what works for you!

keep the beat goin' ... Don't keep it to yourself!

I keep my conga and djembe drums in stands just to the right of my floor tom. They are close enough to reach, but not too close so they are in my way. During a song I can spin, drop my sticks, and play them while using my left foot on my bass drum. I keep stick holders mounted to the stands so I can grab another pair quickly as I spin back to face my kit.
