Default Yamaha DTXtreme III-more like a DTXtress

Here is a picture of my setup. But before I show the pic, lemme 'splain sumpin. I wanted a small kit so I could schlep it to church once in a while, but since I am a techy, I wanted the module with all the power. So, I bought a DTXpress II with a folding rack and it works GREAT!

I then went through 3 module upgrades before settling on the Xtreme III. I have sold them all and the $850 for the module alone doesn't seem so bad. I also upgraded the ride, crashes, and snare drum. I am using a PCY-65S for a hihat cuz I had probs with real hats, and this one does the trick for me. I have open and closed, but since the hat has an edge, I have that pgmd to ~ half open, which is my fave hat sound.

The first thing I did when I received the module was put 512mb of ram in it for sampling, and I upgraded the firmware to the DTX900 features!

    Without further ado....

Nice looking kit CharlyG!...Have you built any user kits yet?....One thing I would recommend is a RHH135 hihat pad..great action and it's designed to work with a real hihat stand...

    Thanks guys!

Bish - I have a DM5 set and a 16 channel firewire mixer to sell and I will either come out even, or up a couple hundred from when I had the renowns.

late - The "best" cymbals are the 135, 155 cymbals. I upgraded the pie shaped (65) to circular(130,150 series) and if I had it to do over, I would have gone straight to the 5's. Better feel and the bell works better on the ride.

Scorch - I am happy with using the PCY65S for hats. I never learned how to use the real ones. And I did a maple based user kit with decent cymbals. I seem to NEVER like the cymbals on the default kits.

I need to clean up the cables again. I swapped out the cymbals(needed stereo cables) since I last pulled it out for cable maintenance.

Cool!...just curious...what don't you like about the stock cymbals and what did you change up on your user cymblas?

Scorch - They are all too gongy or not loud enough. I go for the AAX/HH sabian kinda sound.
