Default Old hi-hat stand, what do you guys do?

When your hi-hat stand gets old and the screw thingy inside the hats keeps un-screwing and keeps my hats from opening and closing...its getting annoying.

Yeah, my crappy Linko stand used to do that. Now I have a Pearl stand with a locking mechanism on the clutch. Never had the same problem again.

Anyway, have a look around for a new Hi-hat clutch.

Do you mean where the rod screws into the bottom?

I mean the screw that screws onto the mechanism on top of the top hat.
Mine has a little screw-bob that holds the hat in place.

It is a Sonor model. I'm not quite sure exactly what make it is, but I'll check and see. Maybe I should buy a whole new hi-hat stand, since the rod is bent in this one.

Sounds like a good idea to me CC. Just make sure you get some decent hardware this time. Anything without a locking mechanism on the hats I would avoid.

May be you could try some LocTite until you can get another stand?

Yeah, it sounds like you need a new clutch. They are'nt too expensive to replace. Gibraltar makes a great clutch that runs about $15, or you could get a DW drop clutch for a little more. I use the DW cuz' I use a double bass pedal. Both options are cheaper than replacing the stand.
