I to have a cheap ride cymbal, an old sabian solar... Would it sound alright to rivet it, or should I just spend the money on a new cymbal, pre riveted?

I Tried To Think Of Something Insightful, But This Is All That Came To Mind...

I also have a set of beat up bent hi hats. One of them is really bent up! I want to put one on top of the other, (with the bells facing the same way) when I hold them like that in my hand, they give off a quick smash/crash sound. (kinda rattle against each other)
Just trying out weird stuff with trashy cymbals..

Wow .... that last one looks like a perfect candidate for a homemade sizzle cymbal project!!

I have seen people take hihats like that and cut one of them down to 12" and just stack them on top of each other on a cymbal stand. The smaller one sitting on top of the large one gives you a very quick trash sound that dies off almost immediatly.

I did the exact same thing a while ago.
Put rivets in a solar 16" crash.
Sounds sweet now, china mixed with a splash kind of.
Wasn't doing anything lying around anyways.

Go for it XJ99. Its garbage now, it'll probably sound better. I use a 16in wuhan china on an x-hat with a cutdown crash on top. Sounds way cool. Never hurts to try new things, and a cool sound is a cool sound no matter how you get it.
I did it to my solar, go for itI to have a cheap ride cymbal, an old sabian solar... Would it sound alright to rivet it, or should I just spend the money on a new cymbal, pre riveted?
You won't be disappointed, and if you are what harm is done?
