No, the Masters ain't mine. I just found a picture of a kit with the same finish as one I saw at the music shop here... Damn if you think it looks good in the picture, wait till you come across one in person (drum?)!

I know that I will probably be called quite boring for these choices but there is something I love about black shells with black hardware, and although these are not the set ups I would have nor are they the best examples of black on black, I still love the look.

An "artsie" shot of my 58 Gretsch - Gold Sparkle
This is my favorite kit....I feel lucky to own it. Everytime I sit down behind it I have to pinch myself = check in to see if I'm dreaming - lol.
I'm not bragging at all - it's just the way I feel about finally owning my "Holy Grail" of drum kits. There are a lot of better drums out there for others - and some awesome kits posted here - but this is the one for me.

Somthing about these hoops, that just makes me want them! I know some of you will LOATHE these, but I think they look so fresh! I wouldnt buy one, I would buy the one I posted earlier, but I just think these look clean as HECK!

    HA!!! You guys are right.

I do want to add one thing. Pictures can NOT do the Bubingas' finish any justice. It took my breath away when I saw the tiny metal flake in the finish. I don't have a camera good enough to really capture what you see with your eyes.

Yea, that second kit was designed (meaning he actually drew the design) by one of my favorite drummers (and a new friend now) Andy 'The Butcher' Mrotek. He is one hell of a drummer and a great artist at that. Actually, he told me all about how he went to art school.

As for my favorite kits, I loved that Blue Mapex Orion posted earlier. Such a great finish. But, I couldn't just pick one. If I had it my way, I would have hundreds of beautiful kits.
Tama Starclassic Birch in Emerald Sea Fade 24x18, 13x10, 18x16
Mapex Black Panther Phosphor Bronze 5.5x14
Remo Coated Emperors (or Evans Clear EC2s) over Remo Coated Ambassadors
Remo Coated Ambassador Over Hazy Diplomat Snare Side
Dream Contact 14" Hi-Hats, Zildjian Avedis 21" Sweet Ride, Zildjian A Custom 18" Projection Crash, Wuhan 18" China
    Vic Firth 5As and 5Bs/Sound Percussion 5Bs and 2Bs

Aw man, I need to find somewhere that has this kit on display. The picture of it from the tama website took my breath away and then these pictures make me want it more. Also I love the colour of the wood where you can see it through the head, wow, just beautiful.

BUBINGA KOA is another gorgeous finish that has to be seen "Live" to believe. That's probably true for most of the posts on this thread.
I've seen this close up (the seven piece) and if I did not have more self control - haha - I would have bought it on-the-spot.

Koa (Acacia Koa) is native to Hawaii and has a long history associated with canoe building. The drums are not too shabby either
It's becoming a rare species as far as "harvesting" goes.

If you want to see some over-the-top drums that are pure art check out some of the Tumbadoras (congas) from Hawaii........For the full curl koa bookmatched off-gallery drum you're looking at $6000 per drum. I think that includes Gold hardware.

I was inspired by AlexGoodwins pics of the SJC kits, so I decided to go and look through all 889 kits that they have pictures of on their website. I truly believe that any drummer would find something they love that this company has produced.

Here are the 12 that were my favourites:

Hey Atomic you should go check out their site, if that is your favourite one of the 12 I posted then I'm guessing that you will probably like some of the crazier kits they have done. They have kits with bright neon paint splatters on and others with lights in the drums etc - truly a great drum kit company when it comes to the look of the kit.
