I can be of no help . . . . BUT . . . . When are you on TV? and Where? Later live with Jools? Hehehe :D
Is your band signed?
This may be a bit of a ridiculous question but here goes.
Have any of you played live in a television studio and is there anything I should take into account when tuning my kit for a TV performance?
I guess I just fine tune to the room when I get there and that should be fine and I know that I will not have to change much if they mic up each drum closely, as it is when we perform in a club/venue, but having never done a gig like this before I don't know how they will mic it up and just wondered if any of you have this experience?
It's not a major TV show it's just a local thing but that makes me wonder whether the sound guys are really going to know what they are doing as they don't usually have full live bands in.
Any help is appreciated.

Last few times Ive done TV, they just miced the room.
They will want your drums to be heavily muted and quiet. Be very consistant with your dynamics. And when your not on camera BE QUIET!!! Nothing peeves off a director more than noise when they are taping, its even more important when the show is live.
Have fun, doing a tv show is an awesome experience.
Hey just wanted to congratulate you on your TV Station gig JSB! How exciting that must be.

Thanks Redneck, sounds like good advice. I have EC2 over EC resos on my toms and EMAD2 over EMAD RESO on BD so my kit is pretty muted as it is, barely any over tones at all, i guess i could take some moongel or whatever just to be on the safe sound but I don't want to kill the kit completely.
The tv show is only going out locally in Yorkshire i think and its not live which takes a bit of pressure off.
In response to you Alex I have no idea what the show is called or when it will be aired, I think its more of a student thing, so no its not Jools Holland but the woman who books bands for Jools Holland is coming to see us play in London in June and if she likes us then we will get on, so I guess this is a nice bit of experience before that hopefully happens.
Thanks again guys.

I know man, if we get on I will be quite star struck by Jools Holland never mind some of the people we could be on the show with. Keep your fingers crossed for me man.
The tv show we are doing is being recorded this Thursday and apparently its for radio and tv so there might be somewhere to watch/listen online as a pod cast or whatever. I'll let you know more details when i get them.

Hey guys, thought I would come back to the thread to let you all know how disappointing my tv studio gig went, it was all done at York University and it was a real disappointment because when we got there we were told that we couldn't use the tv studio and the presenter who was going to do the interview wasn't available to do it.
So we went into a pretty small studio and just did a live studio audio recording of three tracks, I'm sure they will sound cool but we basically had about half an hour to get them down, so not quite the day I was hoping for.
I still got a few pics of my kit though:

The audio tracks should be mixed by the end of next week and will be online as a podcast, I'll see if I can post them here somehow, or give you the information as to where to find them.

JSB, as the old saying goes " chaulk this up for experience", too bad interviewer let you down, but maybe he had something more important to report..like how the weather is changing in the atmostphere! Ha Ha...his loss..looking forward to hear what you were able to pull off.
Enjoy the Music!

Yeah man, I'm pretty thick skinned to it now, sometimes it sounds like you have got the dream gig and it turns out to be a poor experience, other times you might not be looking forward to doing something as much as other things and it ends up being the best time you had. I'm glad to have all the experiences with the band, nothing beats the feeling of playing.
