So, I might be moving soon and right now my drums are in a very nice a/c home studio. But where Im moving my drums would be in a normal garage. I live in south florida and it gets very humid here. Summer in a garage can probably get to 105 degrees I know I could put a blanket over it to protect it from some creepy crawlys and what not, but would the temp and humidity really mess up my kit?

    DD--see this thread: http://www.drumchat.com/showthread.p...ighlight=attic

It is about keeping drums in the attic, but provides insights on storage parameters. Essentially, drums can take some variation, but long term could be problematic. Also, will likely wreak havoc on your tuning, but you probably guessed that. For humidity, you can also put a good dehumidifier in the basement.

Humidity and temperature is a BAD combination, where I live as hot and way more humid than FL, but still I'd recommend try cleaning your drums constantly or covering them to avoid the humidity stick to the drums..

I say the heat will dry them out and all kinds of bad things to heads. I wouldnt do it other than to play then tear down and store indoors. IMHO

I'm new here and this thread caught my eye. I had a Slingerland kit I played on for over 20 years but had to sell do to unfortunate circumstances. It's been a long time since I drum shopped and am now looking around, but my pockets have bottoms so I have to find something for no more than $1000, I'll probably buy used. Anyway my kit will be on the second floor of my shop and it gets very hot up there in the summer maybe 100* and below zero in the winter, I live in the north east. I was wondering what that would it do to a wood shell drum. From reading these posts I see it would not be nice on my kit. I hope nobody laughs to hard for me saying this but I was thinking maybe Plexiglas kit like the ones that were popular in the 70's would be the way to go for the environment the kit will be in. I did a search on ebay for one of these kits but none found, I also checked my local Craigs list, no go, Are these kits now rare and scarce and if you can find one are the prices out through the roof? Any input here on this?
