    Default Cymbals "Cutting Out"

    Hi folks!!

I have a problem that Im sure a lot of drummers have encountered
at one time or another with their electronic kits. When I strike a
cymbal pad while playing, instead of the usual long release cymbal
    sound,I get a short pshhht. I have an Alesis DM5 module,and home
made drums with peizo elements installed. I borrowed a friends
cymbal trigger and still get the same "Cutting Out" sound from
it. It almost seems that the Module is getting "Confused" Rest of
my drums work great. Its just the cymbals and its freaking
driving me nuts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance, PepsiMoon

Do your cymbals have a "choke" feature or are they 2 or 3 zone pads? I can see maybe the choke feature with the trigger brain getting confused or short wired or maybe it could be the wire? Sometimes I have to take out my wire and place it back in to get it to work right sometimes. I'm not too much of a help, but I tried.

It sounds to me like the sample is hosed. Go to that trigger on the module, get to the place where you can change the "voice" and scroll thru the different sounds while hitting the pad til you hear one you like, then save it.

A trigger is nothing more than what it means, it triggers a sample. The trigger does nothing in the way of telling the sample how long to "sound".

I have absolutely no experience on the Alesis modules, I am speaking from my experience with Yammies.

Hiya!! Thanks for the responses..Um....When I hit the cymbals by themselves they sound fine. Its just when I have a groove going,Im in
the pocket and hit a cymbal,"pssh",cuts out. Its weird. Maybe its just Alesis.
I might midi out to Addictive Drums and see if I get the same result.

    Thanks , PepsiMoon

..I think I may have narrowed this thing down. Im using a 1" PVC "Rack" that I constucted myself. Its a bit on the flimsy side . I think I may be getting crosstalk.. Im working on it now..Thanks again, PepsiMoon
