    Default Mixer question

    Hi

Recording newbie here. I have a Yamaha MG102C mixer which I use for live gigs, it only has 4 XLR inputs which is fine for a 4 piece kit in a club.

Is it possible to use one if the other channels for mic'ing if I wanted to use more mics in the studio (eg overheads etc)
They are basically the usual phone jack type. I guess I may be able to get a xlr converter?

    thanks for any input provided

It's a 10 channel mixer so I don't see why you couldn't add some more mics. You will need adapter from XLR to 1/4" or possibly a pre-amp also (didn't see any mic pre's on the mixer page I was looking at for ch 7/8, could be wrong).

Unless you have some outboard preamps, you'll only be able to use four mics.

The gain is a pre, make sure the 1/4" excepts balanced
