    Default Ludwig 24" bass... floppy?

    Hey all;
    still getting used to the Ludwig 24" bass. Has anyone else played one of these? they seem to have a very distinct "Floppy" feel to them. I've tried different pedal beater heights and of course, tuning/tightening, but still have that "Floppy" feel.
    Any ideas would be helpful.
    Thanks.

    Well, all I've done is add an evans impact pad to the bass.
    -it's as I got it from the factory with factory installed heads,
    (no holes), and the sound is fine (loud) but just sort of "Floppy" or loose in the response of the beater's impact.
    Thanks.

    I have a 24" and I also feel its floppy. Mine has a pinstripe batter and a stock reso thats ported. Im sure the factory batter is a single ply head, if I were you Id get a 2 ply. Ive never played them, but Id suggest an EMAD or Remo Powersonic and tune it tight. Also throw in a pillow to control some of the air moving in it.

    is there anything in the bass drum itself? i bet if you put a small pillow against the batter head it will tighten up a lot.
