You guys both have collections that some of us would die for. I can only imagine the different sounds you get from them. Truly awesome.

I'll post pics of my very small collection of snares soon. Just gotta upload em'.

Those are of my Yamaha Steve Jordan Sig Snare. I refinished the drum with a combination of red and brown dye, then rubbed it with a cloth to give it the wavy effect. When I put Shellac on to seal the finish, I did it before the dye had dried. I saw an immediate reaction, then started cussing around the shop. When I looked again, I realized that the cracked look in the finish was actually very unique. I let it dry completely, sealed it, then put the hardware on. Now I am in need of new lug inserts, So I will be able to polish it up soon.

Then those are of my workhorse snare. I put Puresound snares on both, a 10 wire on the SJ Sig and a 16 wire on the Pork Pie. They really did improve the sound. I'm uploading all the pictures I took of my snares to a new album on my profile right now if you're interested. It's not two and a half dozen, I know, but that's all I got.

I ended up getting the Black Magic partly due to price... it's essentially a Black Beauty snare made in Ludwig's overseas facility...of course with an all black nickel finish, tube lugs, and cast rims. I still have the stock Ludwig head (Ludwig does make heads tho) and other then a quick tune it really didn't need a thing.
I got the 14x6.5 because it's the classic rock size... but I see they make a 14x8 now too

Thanks, PB! Only downside to the Yamaha snare is that I bought it without a badge thinking I could get a new one. Their customer support is just kinda... Blah.

I once shot a pair of jeans with buckshot, it ended up looking pretty unique. I wonder if that's what this snare's designer had in mind haha.

Man, everyone has got such nice snares... I'm stuck with this 90's Pearl Export snare... uneven bearing edges, old heads that I can't afford to replace, I have no idea what it's made of, I don't really like the finish, and it sounds like vile excrements! I can't stand it. But I decided to participate in this thread anyway :P

xweasel, if it's helping you get to where you want to go, then offer it a little respect, and it's all good! A new snare head might be nice, but then there's always dinner and a movie.

Nice collection mind drummer. I like the wood hoops on the last snare. Are they original, and what's the make of the snare?
