Updated family shot. I've been making some changes over the past couple months.

    Here is the current assortment.

    Left, top-down: Ludwigs Acrolite (1966), Supraphonic LM402 (2010s), Black Beauty 6.5 (2017)

Middle: Ayotte 13x8 8ply in African Walnut Satin (2008) / Yamaha Jimmy Chamberlin Signature Snare (2006-2016?)

Right: Taye Metalworks Brass in Brushed Nickel 14x5 (2000s-2010s) and Vintage Brass (2012-2016).

Gone are the small 12x7 Ayotte, the 12x6 Taye Steel, and a Taye Metalworks Aluminum I had.

Newly added are a 1966 Ludwig Acrolite, a 2010s Ludwig Supraphonic, a new-in-box 2017 Ludwig Black Beauty, and a Yamaha Jimmy Chamberlin Signature snare.

I would like to edit down to just these:

One more shot for my own vanity.

A simple, elegant design is good engineering.

    Axis | Ayotte | Evans | Gibraltar | Ludwig | Pro-Mark | Remo | Roc-N-Soc | SKB | Taye | Vic Firth | Whitney| Yamaha | Zildjian

Thank you, sir! It took a little bit to dial it it, but it likes being tuned low. I probably should pick up a spare throw off at some point should mine wear out.

Sorry for the delayed response Mr.B, I work long hrs sometimes. The snare is 1980 Ludwig coliseum maple 12 lug 14x8 in. Drum was too heavy so I stripped the bow tie lugs and die cast hoops off and lightened it up w/ego large tube lugs( chrome aluminum w/stainless steel threaded inserts). also put single flange hoops and later added the P86 throw. The P85 throw bit the dust! I bought it new in 1980.

I got this one in a package deal with some cymbal stands, and some orphaned drums for $50---didn't think much about it because I just wanted the parts from the bass drum. I have no idea who made it, or what kind of wood they used, but this thing is amazing! 14 x 6.5, 1.6 hoops, Aquarian High Energy batter with Aquarian snare side? 16 strand wires.

Thanks! it sounds so good. I tend to keep the strainer. I do use the older Dunnett swivel strainer on another snare, very handy as a lefty. Maybe Ill upgrade this NW strainer some time to the new Dunnett model.

I'll have to get some pics up. But I finally found the final 5.5" Yamaha Maple Custom snare to add to my collection. It's now done!
