Since it's the time machine tour or something like that, HG Wells' time machine was indeed probably a huge influence. I love the cymbals, I think they are awesome. The drums are very detailed but honestly I'm not a fan of how busy they are. I respect how much effort they would have taken to make but I'm just not liking them.
It is definitely an epic kit with the cymbal details, I think the closest thing I have seen to that is The Who's cymbals at the superbowl, which I still want. This could potentially unearth a whole new level of customization in drumsets...

I saw those! The red white and blue K crash rides Starkey had. Those things shimmered like crazy. Zildjians website had all the details on the. It makes me wonder what is in the future of cymbal customization.

To me, it conjurs up almost a Jules Verne essence; when machines were truly mechanical in nature, with lots of seams and rivets, gears and erector set trusses, each a crucial working element visible to the naked eye creating at once a juxtaposition of function and chaos.
Hmmm, Never thought about it that way, XS. It's an excellent point.

Still too busy in my opinion, but a very cool way to integrate the theme.

Oh dude, those cymbals were amazing! They looked like Captain America's sheild from the old Marvel comic book series.

It's got 1 bass drum. And it's Peart. So, not to completely turn you down, it's a nice kit, a very nice kit, a really nice kit, but I think it's a bit watered down if you ask me.

I like the design of the riser. A Hexagon figure is great for a large set up like that. Check out the stands bolted on to the riser. The set is a bit over the top but you have to remember he is touring with a 3 piece group and these days you have to be a bit over the top on that level. There "RUSH". The whole concept of the set up looks like it would not be to difficult to set up and tear down. From certain angles the drums kind of dissappear into the riser the way they match. The cymbals look really cool. The drums would have stood out more had the design not been so busy.
But overall I bet it looks good under the lights and he has a lot of room to fill on a big stage and something like that does the trick and has a wow factor.

When was the last time Neil toured with a true double kick?

Compared to his 70's kits, this is very subdued. Electronics allow him to play all of those other voices without bringing a slew of percussion instruments.

The cymbals are just radiating in my brain. I love that set. It's just torture to me looking at it and not be able to play it. Maybe someday

The cymbals? I'd freakin die for that shell design. Not really. I'd just be in debt. For many years.

He had two bass drums on Presto. Roll The Bones was when he switched to one bass drum with a double kicker.

It belongs in a museum straight up.. Remember Neil is a showman and shocking people with his kit designs over the years is something he's become known for. It's just all part of the show. I'm sure on the next album he'll have another kit that will get people talking too.

I got to sit down and play Peart's 1974 Slingerland Chromeys this past weekend, which were used on the first 4 albums with Rush. What an honour and experience

That kit is pure Peart!! He is so imaginative and creative when he play's..just like the drums. And the best part is he will play every one of those drums, nothing there for the "looks". Awesome.
