Acousticon from my research is a made made wood material made of wood fiber and resins.
I have heard the drums and thought they sounded tone-ful and awesome. I don't think they're making them any more. Pity!

The Remo drums I have sound great. They are so low and boomy. Who would have thought fiberboard could sound so good. I think Remo is still using it in their Djembes and other world percussion.
I have heard that their snares were particularly very nice sounding.
i have used this one at our gigs and it sounds amazing I love it I use it all the time now
Remo still makes drums using the Acousticon shells you can find them on remo's web site i love mine
