Just wondering if anybody is into the kind of music they put in movie trailers and stuff? This sort of thing...

I really love it, as some of you might have noticed from my drum videos But I have yet to find someone else who listens to this music.

I love an epic movie soundtrack. Scores from Westerns going back to the great spaghetti westerns of the 60's and 70's and the marvelous compositions by Ennio Morricone (The Ecstasy of Gold was a favorite long before Metallica used it); Elmer Bernstein's score from The Magnificent Seven; Silverado; The Cowboys; and on and on.

    Almost anything by Danny Elfman...

    John Williams...

    Pirates of the Carribean...

    The list is endless.

I haven't heard of any of those first few you mentioned, but I love most of John Williams' stuff and the music from Pirates of the Caribbean.

Danny Elfman +1. He can make any movie good based on the soundtrack alone..

Hans Zimmer did a lot of stuff (synth) that now sounds pretty dated. His more recent work seems much more timeless.

Elfman keeps getting better and better...and less predictable.

Ennio Morricone...I've posted this before but...

Yep...Three soundtrack guys I like are Ryuichi Sakamoto, Stewart Copeland and Giorgio Moroder....Ryuichi did the soundtrack for "The Last Emperor", "Mishima" and "Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence"....Copeland started with "Rumblefish"...then a whole slew of stuff like "Wall Street", "Highlander II"...many more to list....the theme music for the TV series "The Equaliser" and so on. And Giorgio Moroder done pretty much most of the music for "Midnight Express"....that was one of the first soundtracksthat pre-dated techno by quite a few years.

I love motion picture scores.......one of my favorites...and most recent purchases - is the SIGNS motion picture score by James Newton Howard.

I also really like John Barry's score from the film 1979 THE BLACK HOLE. It's really dark, moody and powerful.

The score from THE GODFATHER and Danny Elfman's BATMAN are also some of my more listened to scores.

Ooh yeah, the Black Hole...that was made by the Disney Studios? Am I mistaken? Just reminded myself....had my head around the Tubular Bells excerpt from The Exorcist, anyone picked up that it's an odd meter? Wasn't totally aware until a keyboardist mate's been showing me how to do it, on all things.....a glockenspiel! LOL But it is one of the instruments in it afterall.
