Today I picked up the play-a-long CD called "Baby Steps To Giant Steps," volume four of the "Turn It Up And Lay It Down" series of play-a-long CDs. I have listened to each track, though not fully, and can say that the quality is phenomenal! I have played through the first seven tracks and each track gets gradually faster and all have areas for drum soloing (trading fours or eights, and track ten even has a sixteen bar drum intro). It really feels great to play to and the instrumentation is great. All of the songs are based on standards I have heard, but the only one I could tell you right now is the last track is "Giant Steps." Otherwise, I'd be just guessing. The only complain I have about this CD is that their is a click during the drum solo parts to help you count, which I find unneeded, but I can't complain. Plus, if I ever wanted to remove them I could. The CD was around $12 or $13 at Guitar Center. Check it out! They also have other versions, such as one for metal players, etc.
