So I've been told that when you wanna record drums, it's in your best interest to dedicate a computer to it. Fortunately, I have a spare computer that I could do this with. Unfortunately, I'm not entirely sure as to how good the computer should be.

Could someone tell me if 3 gigs of RAM and a Duo core (1.87 GH) proccesor would be suficient to record 7 or 6 tracks simultaneouly?

If not, what EXACTLY would I need do you think? Which parts of the computer are the most important when recording many tracks simultaneously? I've heard that my audio interface will more or less act as the sound card, is that true or will I still need a really good sound card?

depends on the software, but yeah should not be a problem depending on latency you have set.
