    Question **Drum Heads**

I want to get new heads for my toms and I`m thinking of trying out the remo coated heads.

What`s the difference between coated emperors and coated ambassadors?

Ambassadors are a single ply. Emperors are a double ply.

The Evans G2 coated are equal to Remo Emperors coated both 2 plies. Evans G1 and Remo Ambassaors single plies.

Double ply heads like Emperors give an overall more controlled, shorter sound than single ply like Ambassadors, and also are more durable because they have 2 layers. But they still allow a good amount of sustain and tone, so they're the "go to" heads for many drummers. I have coated Evans G2's on my kit now and absolutely love them.

Depending on the drums and tuning.. a heavier head is capable of being both louder and resonating longer then a thinner head... a larger/heavier object once set in motion tends to stay in motion longer. A thinner head will be brighter, with more high frequency... and a heavier head will be darker with more low frequency. You can have resonance and sustain with both.

Yes. Clear heads are more punchy, coated are warmer.

I go to my local drum shop and purchase my sticks. I like to touch them before I buy them ;-)
