im not sure if the standard kit is limited edition or not, but mine will be unusual. I found a shop near me that will order it for me with a 24" bass drum, instead of the 22"
AND! it's 200 bucks cheaper than the standard setup is on GC.com or MF.com. Score!
I just posted my Exports on craigslist. I'm goin for it! i'm so dang excited, i've actually started lactating!
not really...

I go to my local drum shop and purchase my sticks. I like to touch them before I buy them ;-)

The question is PDP's how do they stack up very well I think I love my PDP's but looks like they are going to stack up on a tree stump lol hit that thing with a hammer and see what happens
I can tell you one thing for sure...It's not a toomah!
PDP FS 5-piece (Tobacco Burst) | Paiste PST 5 Cymbals
Haha, everybody says that. I always say the same thing back: if it was YOUR basement, would you??? And if i do hit it with a hammer, and water/sewage/gas/fire/locusts/bees/lepers come shooting out, will you help me clean it up?!
Well, at least i've got that goin for me!
Well I guess I'm just in the mood to vent tonight so here it is. I've been on many drums sites and I've read hundreds of hits about drums and what drums should be.
So when I picked my drums I looked for:
1. Maple
2. I really didn't look for North American maple but that is what I got as a bonus.
3. 20 lug snare and bass
4. Well known manufacture
5. a price I could afford.
So what did I end up with? A set of PDP CX's. Now on most forums everyone is telling me that these are at best an intermidate set. Well I've had many pro level sets and to me these are as good if not better sounding than anything that I've had.
Now just to show how many people get cought up in hype and advertisement.Everyone is beginning to restpect the PDP Platinums for what they are. Great sounding drums. But guess what? the only thing different betweeen my CX's ( at best a intermediate set ?) and Platinums are the lugs. The same North American maple the same ply thickness just different lugs.
I will admit at first PDP had some quality control issues, but even after they corrected those people would not give them credit for the good drums that they were making.
I can honestly say that I will put my PDP CX's up against a Pearl set of Masters for a blindfold test and I'm willing to bet that 95% can't tell the difference.
So my closing statement. Dollar for dollar I have a great set of drums for less that half of what a lot of people pay for Ludwigs,DW's,Pearls,Tama's and Gretsch. The new Platinums are great drums and deserve more credit than they are getting. Thanks for reading my vent. John
