    Hey all,

I`m considering buying a set of cheap zildjians but i dont know
which are better. Which do you prefer ZHT,ZXT or ZBT?
And how does the sound compare to the more expensive cymbals?

I think the order from good to bad is, zht then zxt and then zbt. I have the zbt hats which aren't too bad but the ride is horrible.

If you are looking for beginner/intermediate cymbals don't buy these. Buy the sabian B8's or Paiste pst 5's. Those sound a lot better in my opinion.
Or you can buy used pro level cymbals.

I think its zht, zbt, zxt. And would agree abt B8's or PST 5's. I have zbt's and am replacing them with PST 5's soon. But if you are dead set on Zildjian, ZHT's are the most pro-sounding.

The sound from any of those lines is horrible compared to a nice pro-level cymbal. This goes for ANY low-end cymbal...be it Sabian B8's, B8 Pro, or the Zildjians you listed.

At the VERY LEAST you should start at Sabians Xs20's as your least expensive choice. Those will blow the socks off the low end beginner cymbals...and for not too much more money. Look at higher end used stuff as an even better option. But I'd advise you as to NOT waste your money on the beginner cymbals...if anything they are just discouraging...as in when that's all I had when I first started and I hated the sound so much I didn't even want to hit the things! LOL

I agree with Timactionfigures, at least get Sabian X20's they aren't that much more than ZHT's but they are the closest you will get the sound of high-end cymbals on a budget, unless you go used.

Go to ebay man and get some high end ones at a good discount. I do have a pst5 which is okay but youll be wanting to sell the cheap crap after playing them a couple months.

These cymbals you're looking for, you want Zildjian in particular? What sort of sound are you looking to get out of them? What is your budget? If I had a choice of any Zildjians it would probably be A's because of how well rounded they are. Yeah they are pricey, but you thank yourself in the end for the sound you get with them. Occasionally, you can find good deals on them at various sites.

If you have your heart set on a set of zildjians, ZHT all the way. Much better than zxt\zbt. I had a pair of the mastersound hi hats for a while and they didn't sound bad, a tad on the bright side, but overall not bad.

If you are set in this price range though, I'd recommend the xs20 series by sabian. They sound like professional cymbals, but cost the same as intermediate ones.

+1 to XS20's. I have a set of ZHT's on my practice kit and I'm not a fan at all (they aren't my cymbals).

Another option is Dream if you can get them locally. You have to listen to them, since everyone is different, but they are amazing cymbals for the price, and not much more than ZHT's, if at all.

youll want to sell them, but you probably wont be able to. they've got almost no resale value. I'd avoid the ZBT line. I agree with the others that suggested getting used high end cymbals.

Yeah, definitely get better than super cheap cymbals.
Sabian XS20s or Paiste Alphas are the way to go. If it takes you a little more time to save, Its waaaay worth it.
You dont want cymbals you hate.

Its a better idea spending a little more and getting your cymbals one by one... but getting good quality cymbals.. It worked for me
Paiste Alpha 14'' Sound Edge hats
    Paiste Alpha 16'' Medium Crash
    Sabian XS20 14'' Medium-Thin Crash
    Wuhan 16'' China

I find them to sound good, but a bit overpowering.(I have A custom projection hi hats) I suspect the projection type is well suited for live or other high volume settings. It's still an awesome cymbal though, it should keep you happy for awhile.
