Default Health insureance for bands or drummers

Hello drummers, Its me again just was wondering if anyone knew if or how bands on tour had health insureance or what benifits they have? I have been informed that branson, Mo is going to be holding auditions next year for musicians and drummers. I have a good paying job at the va hospital and good benifits ,but would love to find a band to play in and go on tour with. Please feel free to reply.

    Keep drumming

I don't know but would be willing to bet very few if any offer health coverage for a touring band. I would bet that you would be required to provide you own health coverage. Perhaps if you were singned on with a large casino or theater say in Brason MO it would be another story. It amazes me how many famous drummers of yesteryear I have read about are dying of various illnesses and have funds set up for donations because they have no health insurnace. I know I read recently about Richie Hayward the drummer for Little Feat who died of Liver cancer, the article stated he had no health coverage.

I would be interested to know what you find out about this so post any information you find out about it so we all can learn from it.

Gregg, I'm sure you will be very hard pressed to find benefits as good as you have now.
