While we all know music is in the ear of the beholder, I would love to hear the different applications of tuning for your Bass Drum. Not everyone meets their level of satisfaction so let me hear your frustrations as well. Describe tuning, and what heads, and dampening methods are you able to report.

I used to have a blanket in my bass drum. It was a cheap third hand Stagg though, and I think the batter head had been overstreched at some point in it's life.

I now have a Sonor Force 1007, and I've found that the bass drum sounds amazing. Tuned nice and loose, without dampening. Gives a beautiful deep sound.

I have an Evans Emad on my bass with it tuned loose on the batter and medium-tight on the reso. Gives it a nice boomy punch that I love

Evans Gmad with the small foam ring on my 22" Gretsch Renown, tuned to about 75-80 on the DrumDial. Stock reso with 6" hole, tuned really loose. No internal dampening. The Gmad sounds sooo much more thunderous on this drum than the Emad.

No offense but haven't you posted like 3 or 4 threads about this same topic before?

But I will answer the question...I have an Aquarian Superkick II on the batter with the stock reso (I believe it's a PS3) with a 6" port added. Nothing inside. Sounds real nice and punchy. I couldn't tell you how I have it tuned...I keep making adjustments to it until it sounds right to me.
