    Default Crush Drums Discussion

So, new company coming into the game. You've probably all seen the ads in Modern Drummer, but on October 1st (I believe), Crush Drums will launch. As of late they've been building up their roster, many of which come from Ddrum. I'm not sure if this will be another Keller custom company, or if they'll make their own shells. What do you guys think? It'll be interesting to see who the first Drumchat user is with a Crush kit. Here's an interview with the CEO.

Lots of hype. If they bring it... they should be in good shape.

I personally prefer when the product speaks for itself... as opposed to marketing or company owners.

But I do wish them well.

Smells like another affiliate company of Ddrum.. Maybe Ddrum is going to make the mid to low end and Crush will handle the high end custom stuff, much like the relationship between Pdp and Dw. Making their own hardware though, that's an enticing thought. It sounds like more effort is going into marketing than quality control, and that's a bad thing indeed. Hopefully they can back up all their big-game talk soon.

From what I've read on other forums, it seems crush was founded by a former employee of ddrum that was unhappy with ddrum and wanted to branch out and start their own company. Thus I assume they will be similar to ddrum. Flashy finishes, exotic woods and lines, and sub-par quality/sound.

I think that ddrum has come a long way and their premier lines actually sound pretty good.

It of coarse could go either way. I hope that his (the CEO's) time at Ddrum gave him lots of insight. That hopefully will mean good things for the drums, as he can improve upon what he felt Ddrum lacked. I just hope its not all hype because Ive heard alot of not so good things about Ddrum, and maybe this will 1.) make the Crush drums new and innovative and 2.) will make Ddrum wake up and improve. Only time will tell.

The only reason you'd branch off a company is to do something different or to improve on the old one so I guess however it goes, it's a good thing.

And even if it's another CB drums or STAGG then atleast it's another shade of grey for the drumming specrum!
