If your goal is to have both strokes sound the same, then use your fingers on the second stroke. It's really like squeezing the stick once you get up to a certain speed.
I have watched several videos, I am now confused.
When doing a double stroke (using rebounds)
Do I
Do one strike and let the stick rebound and hit the snare
or
Do one strike let it rebound and then use my fingers to make it hit the snare
I hope you guys get what I am trying to say
If your goal is to have both strokes sound the same, then use your fingers on the second stroke. It's really like squeezing the stick once you get up to a certain speed.
I use my wrists on the slow double stroke and then work up to faster by letting the stick bounce naturlly with the help of your fingers. It is realy hard to try and describe this technique unless you practice then you will see how easy it gets.
Yeah I know when I first started I was asking this same question, all I did was just use my wrists at first then as I built speed the fingers just kinda jumped in there for me.
And make sure to use a metronome!
Just to get it straight
If i use my wrist for the first strike and my fingers for the next, would the stick height have to be the same.
and
About using a metronome,
would it be one double stroke per beat?

If I'm correct this is how to count a double stroke roll:
RR LL RR LL RR etc.
1a 2a 3a 4a 1a etc.
I play the double stroke as individual strokes. It takes more control and builds your wrist muscles. That is just my personal preference.
Just wondering
Is it one stroke and letting the stick bounce twice and stopping the bounce with my fingers.
Or is it strike with the wrist, wait for the stick to rebound then close your fingers.
If you can, can you guys link me a video where the proper method is shown
At a certain speed it seems like you'd NEED the bounce.

Just saw this on another forum.
That's a great video demonstrating the Moeller!
watch out the teaching Nazi from hell is here
wrist only no fingers, each stroke must start at 4 inches from the snare and come back to the original spot ...don't fluctuate speed or dynamics
don't forget the feet also need to learn the double stroke and paradiddle too
