Mike Lowry from Lake Trout is pretty damned good, and nobody has ever heard of either him, or the band. I cant even find them on youtube.
Cliff Davies- Worked with Ted Nugent through most of the seventies and eighties as his drummer and co-producer.

If you listen to their music, you know that the sound of his drums is so bad that it doesn't matter if he does that to his equipment. They're so raw and freestyle. Not to mention really nice, clean guys. I yelled out Darren's name at the last show I saw them at, and Darren turned around and was like "What?" Everybody else was just screaming, you know? That got a laugh out of him.

Life, like drumming, is only as good as you make it.
Being a Clutch fan I am biased and think the whole band is underrated. But anyway I've always loved JP's style.

Gotta say though. Ringo, not only not given enough appreciation, but much of the time actively derided. Words fail me!

Mike Marsh from Dashboard Confessional. Obviously Chris gets almost all the attention since he started off mainly acoustic, but Mike's drum parts blow me away. He is actually a VERY technical drum cover. Watch more than just this one. You'll see what I mean.

Billy martin-
He has one of the most relaxed techniques and amazing taste. The dude can rip a million notes a minute, but 99.9999999% time never shows. You'd never expect him to have an amazing technique from listening to the albums, but watching him live is really cool. He can play an amazingly subtle swing feel as well. Plus, I have yet to hear a cat groove like Illy B

ok...for you old school punks....here's an absolute absolute underrated one. Anyone outside of Australia familiar with the Hard Ons?

Keish Da Silva....singer and drummer. And I'm not making this up.....he's my mate's cousin!
But yeah Pastor Bob....good call, Nick Mason....hugely underrated. All the glory went to Gilmour, Syd, Waters etc....but....where would Pink Floyd be without Nick holding down the fort? Never underestimate him, like I did when I was stupid and dumb. PB, are you also familiar with this guy?

I don't think he's been mentioned, but Ilan Rubin is definitely one of the more underrated/unheard of drummers, at least from what I've seen. He had a few bands going in the past, but he hit more mainstream popularity after joining Lostprophets, a Welsh alternative rock band. During their down time, he also started a side project called The New Regime. He writes and records everything himself for TNR. Really great stuff. He's probably best known for being the touring drummer for Nine Inch Nails during their last tour. He left LPS for NIN in...2008, I think. From what I hear, he's focusing on TNR these days. Here's his latest song, called "Remission of Guilt".

/edit:
Something I forgot to mention. He's only 21 years old. He's been playing and touring since he was 9 years old. He also holds the world record for youngest artist on a woodstock stage.
