You said ANY clues would help. That's a clue. It's definitely a Paiste. As to what size and line, well obviously I'm not sure. An 18' Paiste 602? They were introduced in the early 50's and a lot of big names and studios used them.

Anything 17". Seems to be an ideal crash cymbal size. At the moment though, my 16" Impression Traditional medium thin crash is my favourite. Opens up nice and quick

My favorite is the 20" Meinl Byzance Traditional Extra Thin Hammered Crash. Love Meinl. I like how my opinion has changed since I first saw this thread, haha.

The one that sounds like the right tone for the tune when I hit it. I have 8 kits now and have an array of cymbals but they're not matched up that great and I'm not really used to their tone as if you had one set that you always use. I have one set I always use frequently and can't say I have a fave but the Zildjian A 16" thin has been the most faithful for me.

I love all my Signatures - the 16" Fast Crash is just great for fast, cutting accents, but the 18" Full Crash is just so versatile: big, glittery crashes, great for wash-rides, and it even works superbly in a symphonic context with orchestras. It just has to be one of the nicest crash cymbals I've ever played (and I've played a few...).

I love thin A's.. So full bodied and tone rich - if you're not an overly heavy hitter they are definitely what you should have in your kit. You don't need as hard of a stroke as you do in a larger weight either, so that's a nice feature.

    Best cymbal I ever bought.

I paid $100 cash for this cymbal with a new Ludwig Atlas boom stand in 1976.
    Cymbal was $60....................stand was $40.

    Still got both.
    Still love both.

My 14" Paiste Signature Crystal Thin Crash, it opens up quick and pretty and decays fast. My fave to record with. Surprisingly, my old Paiste 16" Alpha Thin Crash seems to match it so well. They've been been my favourites to team up with most set ups for quite a while now.

my 18" 2002 medium is my "go to" crash (since 1982!). Paiste used to make a 19" medium as well, which I loved...no longer available. I'm using a 19" 2002 crash in its place. Excellent cymbal, as well.

For me it's my A Custom 19" crash. I like this cymbal so much for crashing and riding, in fact I've made it my ride cymbal (see profile pic).

So I'm selling my 22" a/c ping ride (on ebay now). It's a little too much for my little kit and the 19" crash just feels so easy to play on and the sound is great!

for this week anyway its my new Kasza F 17 light crash, lush, breathy, opens at a finger tap and does not overly sustain.

LOL. There are few things in this world I'm willing to take a bullet for. A crash is not one of them. HAHA. Bullets hurt.

Good point but i figured my crash has taken so many hits from me I should at least have the honor to do the same for him.
