Played percussion with our church group after several weeks' hiatus for the Advent and Christmas seasons...and discovered, much to my delight, we have new music we'll be practicing in the next few weeks, some of which has specific parts for bongos and congas written in the score...
keep the beat goin' ... Don't keep it to yourself!

In between students, being heads down learning (and quickly doing cheat sheets) songs for the new band that I originally joined as a percussionist....got a phone call on Friday saying that the recent drummer is "moving on" ....and guess who they've had in mind to occupy the drum stool? Well, I've got 5 songs down pat....twenty three more to go before first rehearsal this coming Sunday. Well, so long as I nail the grooves, tempos and other important bits.
What, me worry? Naaaaaaah LOL.

Yup! PhotoBooth reverses my photos. I put it back on the kit, so I'll take pictures after school today straight up.
Thanks!

I moved my drums from my room to the family room so that I could play along with an instructional dvd. I'll have to move them back soon. I also learned just how far I still have to go as far as my hand-foot coordination goes.
Clean my. 2 cymbals with newly acquired groove juice , and checked tracking at least 10 times to see when my paragon hats will show up

That is cool! Nice job. Is the white lake artist perogative or is it winter everywhere in Chicago? I don't see the Asian Carp?
BTW, did you check out Maxwell's while looking for a vintage kit? I've wanted to check the place out for a long time now, but never had the opportunity. If you have been there, what do think of the place? How's their pricing, especially on vintage snares?
Indeed, I did check Maxwell's. His Naperville shop is about a mile from my house. Prices are very reasonable IMO, especially on cymbals. It's a really neat shop, too. And he's a very knowledgeable guy. Some great snares there that are a little out of my range, but the quality of them makes up for the price. Everything is amazing condition.
I suppose the white is what I used because when it comes to painting, I'm not the best at mixing colors. Single tone just seemed easiest. I would have liked to paint black on white instead of white on black, though.
Who cares, I'm selling the kit along with the head on Sunday. Gotta start somewhere. I might do more now. And by the way, the Asian Carp is hidden. Impossible to find. Seems like it does that a lot nowadays.

One of these days I'll make it to Maxwell's. Mentioning good prices is all the more motivation!
What I saw on TV about the carp is they don't hide. In fact you have to hide from them. The way you fish for them is with a net and you catch them as they jump out of the water. People were literally bloodyed from getting smacked by them. They're not small.
BTW, is it known as the K-Mart Tower now?
