Two band practices, practiced some P!nk, Dolly Parton, Queens of the Stone Age and Avenged Sevenfold stuff.
Yeah, I have a lot of band practices. I average two a day, except on Fridays where I have four.
Yesterday, went to a local "drum" shop, Explorers, to look around and seen some Paiste Formula 602 I could just slobber over. Tried some Meinl cymbals out and was very impressed with the Soundcaster series, big thumbs up. Tried out some Dream cymbals, was'nt overly impressed but I'm not a dark cymbal person. They were kind of a trashy sound to me. Got to try out a Paiste "Powerslave" ride. Would love to add that one to my kit! Wound up at G.C. and found out they had an unbelievable sale going on and wound up walking out with a new 2002 18" crash.
Today, Pounded the skins for awhile this morning to try out the new 2002 18" crash I bought yesterday. Then went back and bought me a 2002 17" crash to add to the set and sat down and played some more.
Really like the 2002 model cymbals. May have to add a 2002 ride, only have 3 rides now, but ones a ride/crash but it's more a ride cymbal.

wrote some exercises for students, practiced tuned percussion for a while (got the school's percussion group performance tomorrow....so I'm taking a Roland SPD-20 with me, using the marimba patch I rescaled in F for some African based stuff), then been teaching...typing this in between students...so see you guys again in a while

Oh hell yeah.
Today I bought some new drumsticks!! Promark 5B nylon tips! Costed me $23, played with them for less than two hours, and whaddya know? One of the sticks have a HUGE crack down the middle of it! I also threw out my receipt because I just didn't think this could happen. Promark suck, my next pair are definitely gonna be Vater!!!

I was asked to join a a band yesterday and today I will be getting my kickport ups style. I cleaned the kit up and put 90% of it in cases for saturdays practice(left out the hats, snare and bass to learn the songs) I wanted the set to look good for the KP's arrival.F/T
I put new heads on another snare. An old Slingerland metal shell. I was disappointed to find the shell jacked up on both sides where the snares go through the hoop. Not sure how it happened, but looks like someone way over tightened either the lugs surrounding the area or the snares them selves...but not sure how that would nearly crush a shell.
PIcked up some headphones and an extension so I can get some recording done.

I waked and banged on the drums. Just jammed on grooves mostly. Ended with some sing sing sing

they don't alter their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views,
which can be uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.

The moment I get up in the morning, I'm always tapping my fingers to something on the radio, or in my head, and always thinking about that next gig....Yeah! WooHooo!
Nothing so far today because it's 7:40 in the morning, but last night I came up with an epic beat to the solo of Freebird (my mind started wandering while I was listening to Freebird at work lol) and I plan on drummifying when I get home from school today.
