learned this for tomorrows band practice
Hey man, congrats on getting the Lord support. You're right, they are a great Wollongong metal band!
As to what I did not so much today, but on Sunday......taught lessons from 10am to 2.30pm, drove to one part of Sydney to do rehearsals (as a percussionist) for one band (also bumped into one of my sound engineering mates at that place that I haven't seen for ages!), then once I finished at 8pm, packed up, drove for almost an hour to another part of Sydney......picked up for $100 for a couple of my students a Pearl drum rack with clamps, a full cymbal stand plus some multi-clamps and another cymbal tilter, plus a free hardware bag. Stayed and chatted a bit with the guy, by the time I got home it was nearly midnight!

Sat at the kit with my 5 month old daughter. She held the stick and played the hi hat.
Mapex Armory - Photon Blue
Mapex VXB kit - Transparent Black
Mapex & Pearl snares
Paiste Alpha & RUDE cymbals
Remo & Vater
I tweaked my new Satrphonic, sounds fantastic.
Then polished my 1922 Wurlitzer and put the snare side head on it. Just waiting for the batter head (pick it up next Saturday),

Congrats on the little one! My little girl is very intrigued by everything right now. She would watch while I tapped on drums and cymbals so my wife brought her over to sit with me. She'd look at each piece I hit. So I put the stick in her right hand and had her tap the hats. Then she tried to eat the stick! LOL.
Went to Dale's today. There were doing the Sabian Cymbal Vote. The event was all but over when I got there but I hit a bunch of stuff. I knew this already but, man, I want a AA RBD ride or/and the AA El Sabor ride. They are incredible sounding. The 19" AAX X-Plosion is a beast.
I bought some Pro Mark Cool Rods.
OH...and Tama Starclassic maple. MUST HAVE. My goodness they sound out of this world.

Although the Starphonic maple or burl maple is a sweet drum too.

Jammed with a new bass for 2 hrs.I think he passed the audition! Plus he loves us, especially because we play great classic rock in the spirit of those times, no new spin: Hendrix' stuff sounds like Hendrix, etc...
SONOR 6 pc Special Edition 3007's red maple, old Pearl Brass 14x6 FF snare, Yamaha Tour Custom maple 8 pc., Tama 4 pc., honey amber B/B, Ludwig Supralite chrome 14x6.5 steel snare, Paiste, Saluda & Zildjianhttp://www.facebook.com/DerailedRockers/
Loaned out Slingerland upgraded 4 pc 1963 black, wrapped maple + 14" Pearl birch FT
Took the djembe down to the coast again to jam. Incredible as usual. I am seriously on the biggest hand drum kick at the moment, can't get enough of it. My girlfriend, parents and brother came with me to watch/chill out and my girlfriend and my mum both got some pretty good pics/footage. I'll see if I can get some of it and post it up on here.
Done two morning lessons, went through a couple of more songs for one band (one original, one cover - I have at least 24 to learn before the gig at beginning of November), did one more afternoon lesson, then packed my percussion set to go do some practice this evening with another group. Came home and relaxed a bit.

So far nothing physically with the drums but I spent some time on Drum Chat ...that's drum related!

Had a new Remo Ambassador X head installed on my SS DW snare yesterday by the Remo rep at my local drum store. Turns out, we've known each other since the late '80s! We spent about an hour and a half just chatting...good stuff!
DW drums and Paiste cymbals.
I just jammed on my Roland TD-5 for about an hour.
I dusted off my entire kit after trying to learn to play Squonk by Genesis. Cool song. Check it out.

I tapped on nearly every nice kit Dale's had upstairs. The Starclassic maples were my favorite. The had a mega rock sized kit. 26" kick, 13, 16, 18 toms. Beast mode. It was so warm but so thunderous. The had a SC maple in sizes closer to what I'd play, 22, 10, 12, 14. They sounded super.
The B/B Starclassic was really nice too. Very heavy low end. Nice presence.
The Mapex Saturn had a KILLER kick drum. I'll tell you what though, the UT heads on the Crush maples don't do those drums ANY favors. They sound like a turd. They'd be far better off shipping those with some decent heads. I walked away from that kit in disgust.
returning a Pearl Eliminator P-2002C double pedal to the store...tried it (them) and no likey...sticking with my Mapex double Falcons. Master pedal is brilliant...slave blows. Slave creeps all over the place and is numb and has a lag issue. Too bad. Nice pedal, otherwise.
DW drums and Paiste cymbals.
I haven't done it yet, but tonight we have a gig at someone's birthday party. We're the third and last band up, starting at 11pm. The other two bands are like funky reggae R&B stuff. We're a progressive neoclassical power metal band. It should be interesting.

Bought some groove juice. Didn't know they sold it in Australia til today..
I tried practicing drums today. That didn't work out too well. I ended up rage quitting because I got too frustrated. That's been happening a lot recently :|

I scored a used Han Chi 14" China in decent shape for $20.

That is indeed a great Genesis song.....Phil has some amazing drum skills.
One thing I've worked on a bit more is to get a Latin pattern called guaguanco happening on the congas. I learned a bit before, but a number of the off-beats weren't really happening. Today it sounded a lot better, and I even tried to do a quarter note Jam Block pattern with my right foot against it.
Tried is what I said......ain't gonna be mastering that in a while though, lol.
