I jumped over to the other side today. Bought my first Remo drum heads for a 13" oak snare. Went with Ambassador Coated / Ambassador Hazy. I'm replacing an Evans G1 Coated / Hazy 300, so I'm not expecting much difference in sound.
Picked up my 17" AAX Xtreme chinese from a 90 day layaway plan. My wife and the rest of the clan chipped in and bought me this cymbal to replace my vintage Zildjian 19" swish pang that's showing signs of cracks in the holes that are missing the sizzle rivets.
The china will be wrapped and under the tree hopefully soon.
Bought some clear ambassador resonant heads. Will be replacing the 10 year old dw stock resonants later today.

I bought a cymbal stand. I don't need one at the moment, but when I pull the trigger on my next cymbal I don't want to worry about finding the stand I want or having to factor stand price into my cymbal budget.
tried out my new snare with my kit for the first time!
I'm heading home right now to play for a few minutes during my lunch break.
Took my drums out of their cases and started to set them up after 3 years of hibernation. I last played them around 5 years ago. I am disgusted with myself. I used to practice daily. I am going to have to return to the rudiments with a metronome. Ha. I used to play in a black metal band. It's going to be a long journey back to the top of that hill.
I can't even remember how to set up my hi hats! Oh the shame!!!!!
Taught drums and had fun hanging out with the last drum student, as we now both have Roland Octopads, so showed her how to set up a basic tabla patch, then we jamming along together with some stuff from Transglobal Underground.

I amazed myself at my single foot speed. John Bonham? Who's that? lol

I'm rearranging my drum kit today. (In hindsight, I really shouldn't have reattached the bass pedal until after I finished moving my drums around. )
Ditched all of my roto toms and my Vistalite concert toms and opted for an easier set up. I couldn't deal with the reach and I could only position the crash cymbals above the rotos or around both concert toms.
Really like the new setup late8.
Everything looks very accessible and efficient.
Should try something like that with mine today, still trying to get the cymbals right.

Have not done it yet, but I need to adjust my Yamaha double bass pedal. It's not getting the action that I used to get. The last gig I went back to my single pedal.
Went on drum chat
read my most recent drumming magazine
table drummed at school (I'm sure everyone did a bit of table drumming today)
Played my kit
looked at far too expensive drum goodies on the internet

Changed the set up on my practice kit a bit. And played for a while.

Cheers Jerzey!
I changed the heads on the church snare drum. I went with the Evans Power center on top and Hazy 300 on bottom. After tuning it, I played on it for about 10 minutes, and it really sounds amazing. I have used Remo Controlled Sound, but I think I like the Evans better. I also purchased an Evans Genera Dry for my piccolo snare. I just put it on over a hazy ambassador, but have not played it.
i watched a drum tour on Chad Szeliga's kit.

I go to my local drum shop and purchase my sticks. I like to touch them before I buy them ;-)
