I saw that I had too many finger prints for my liking on my cymbals, so I grabbed a stack of terry towels, a bottle of polish, and went to work.

I have been toying with my suitcase drum kit. Originally I had everything dog boned off of two cymbal stands (conduit to toms) and the hi hat stand. (pictured didn’t work, weight of drums would pull them down, used dual braced cymbal stands which worked fine).
    B271AF3C-FF3B-41FC-ABF6-875233E98394.jpg

Now, eliminated cymbal stands and mount toms and cymbals to suitcase. A floor tom leg mount for one cymbal rod holder and a bass drum spur mount to hold the other cymbal rod. I just used threaded 3/8” rod for cymbal stands. A bass drum tom mount and tom arms in suitcase for the two toms. The snare is dog boned from the hi-hat stand.

The smaller tom almost fits inside the larger tom. I’d have to grind out a little inside the larger tom for it to fit. Then the snare drum will fit in the suitcase too. Cymbals, will carry in a separate bag.

I installed a internal mic'ing system in my Yamaha 22X16 bass drum using a KICKER system! no tools needed except a drum key to take the heads off! lol. all parts held on with industrial grade Velcro.DSC02382.jpgDSC02384.jpgDSC02385.jpg

DSC02386.jpgDSC02387.jpgDSC02391.jpg I ordered an 18" XLR angled cable so it will just go outside the BD batter and it will be easier to deal with! lol I like it a lot no bungie cables hanging all over the place! lol. I can pull the cable through no problem and I can install it easily through the Bass port no problem! lol. A Shure Beta 91 A will fit perfectly on it as well!

Took an old 14x4 Pulse snare drum I had lying around from the extra gear I got with a used kit, took the snare wires off, took the reso head off, stuffed the inside with drum mutes and foam until it was packed type, put the bottom head back on. Now my son and I have a quieter snare to use instead of a practice pad. That way we get less help with rebound, more realistic surface to work hand speed and technique on.

Man, I really like that... esp. what you did with the cable. Very cool. Do you use a front bass drum head?

That's a cool DIY drum hack drummerMD! Did you get the kick drum batter port from KickPort and how does it sound? Is the foam insert custom made or hacked too?

    Cleaned up snare so far.
That’s the original head that cleaned up nice with soap and water using one of those magic erasers which work great but disintegrate fast.

    Started small tom.
The snare stand and tom arm both needed a roll pin which I’ve put in to fix.
I enjoy refurbing when the price is right and it’s do-able for me.

Yes! Seller had it at $50, went to $30. I looked at it and mentioned issues with it and offered $25 and got it. It’s only a 6 lugger bass drum and snare. Toms are 5 luggers. I’m ok with that for the price.

It was going good until I drilled holes in the wrong side of suitcase and covered with blue tape.
    Fixed with black marker.

    Holy sweet 5 piece!
    Looks amazing!
I’ve played on a kit like this for a couple years but it had a walnut color looking finish.
