I took down my Zickos acrylic kit and put up the Pearl Export double bass kit. Cleaned up the tom mounts with shorter arms and dropped the 13" rack tom down to the floor and hung it off the rack making it a 2 up 2 down set-up. Say what you want about Exports but I love this kit and the '80s tom depth.

Great looking kit. I'm with you; I love my old Export kit. I thought of you today; I found a new 24" maple wood bass drum hoop....cherry red stain....still in the protective wrapper....for $14.00. It looked like the same red color even. I remembered the issues you had with your Pork Pie, but assumed you probably got a new hoop already. If it would have been a 22", I would have bought it. I could have always stripped it or painted it black.

Thanks for the thought Brian. I wish Bill Detamore of Pork Pie would of had your mindset. It cost me over $100 for the new hoop.

Changed the heads on all of my drums except on my secondary kick. As of right now the reso's differ and until I've got some new reso-heads for 'em, the double-pedal will be utilized.

I put one of those Evans EC heads on my Chad Smith Sig snare . The one with the center control dot . I put one on the cheap Pearl Steel Sensitone snare and really liked it . Getting lots of good feedback with that combo . Did not get the same results with the C.S. Signature snare . Going to mess with it a bit more , maybe I can make it work ....

After much hemming and hawing I have started wrapping my '97 DW Collectors. This has been a protracted project mostly due to my inability to make a decision on which color, and whether or not to wrap at all. I am currently looking in awe at my 24" BD covered in Delmar True Black Glass Glitter or as DW calls it, Black Ice. The decision to do this has just become a hindsight. Why did I wait so long? It looks simply amazing
