Cut it large and kick it into place!
Just bought three new stave shells! omg I'm so excited to build them!
Well do it Mike ~!
I think as drummers we should all try at least once to build our own drums.

Practiced on my ekit. Finally. Found a snare that I like.... wish the volume went higher in the headphones though.

Finished my Speed'Demon' Cobras to direct drive and changing out my Black Magic batter head to a Evans HDdry from an Aquarian focus x. I also mounted a matching Inde SB1 snare throw( black nickel ) on it. Now the snare is better than new! IMO.DSC01709.jpgDSC01711.jpg

Drummer MD, Did the direct drive conversion make a difference and where did you get the parts?

I guess this is drum related...in as far as it applies to my band;
Pulled the trigger on these two items today...

I’m tired of lugging heavy PA equipment around....and not having enough mic pre-amp inputs to mic my drums when needed.
It’s my hope that we can get by with just this column array and mixer in 95% of our gigs. If we can eliminate the monitors (as advertised), heavy 15” mains and speaker stands, it would be awesome. If I can also eliminate the heavy Fender acoustic amp and plug our mandolin player into the board it would be even better.

Play the SONG......not the DRUMS!!!
"I think that feeling is a lot more important than technique. It's all very well doing a triple paradiddle - but who's going to know you've done it? If you play technically you sound like everybody else. It's being original that counts." ~ John Bonham
I would think that at 1,000 watts you could plug the whole band into it and eliminate all other amps.
all the best...
We can definitely mic all the guitar amps and run everything through it. We’ll have plenty of inputs with the Yamaha board. Acoustic stuff works well plugging direct into the board, but electric guitars not so much. Plus, everyone has their own tube amps, pedals, etc., to get the sound they want. Even with harmonica we run a small tube amp and Green Bullet mic to get that vintage Blues harp sound.
Since we recently had two guitarists quit, we replaced them with just one new guy. He brings his own rig, so that greatly reduced the amount of amps and guitars I need to haul myself.
These new colum array systems are supposed to be much more efficient at sound projection. They disperse sound 120 degrees in the horizontal, but only 30 degrees vertically. The claim is they aren’t as vulnerable to room acoustics, feedback and there is very little drop in sound level the farther away you get. We have a gig next Saturday in a place noted for terrible acoustics, so we’ll see how it does.

Set up for our 9-1 gig tonight. We’re playing a big rally (maybe regional ?) for an American Veterans motorcycle club. Pretty much an entire motel full of bikers, LOL. Thankfully, they decided to have us set up inside (not outside) due to the heat and humidity. It’s an honor to play for these guys, and we’re really looking forward to tonight. Hopefully, I’ll have some good stories to share tomorrow.

My brother and a female vocalist had an acoustic act going and decided they needed some percussion. So, I bought a cajon and grabbed my blocks and chimes, and now, I am part of an acoustic act.
