Worked on a difficult 16th triplet lick. Got it down after about 20 minutes, recorded it, listened back and then hated it, lol. It still needs work. Back to the wood shed.
Try not to make fun but after 40 yrs. of owning my Slingerland kit, for the first time ever I put coated heads 0n the toms! lol. (coated emperors) I've always had clear heads from the Remo clear black dots to the clear pinstripes to Evans genera g2's! I didn't Know what I was missing! They sound so warm and the attack much different. WOW I'm going to enjoy playing my Slingies much better now! lol.DSC02436.jpg TheDSC02435.jpg The snare is a Pork Pie 'BOB' with a Evans HD dry on it. I had a Remo CS on it but way too much ring! The snare sounds great now and very controlled sounding! Love the overall sound!!
Took my 8" tom completely apart last night. I wanted to reposition the rim hanger so the shell badge faces out. Currently it points to the hi-hat. I need to do that with the 12" tom also. That's a lot of work. You have to remove every lug to move the hanger two lugs over.
So in the process I thought maybe it would be a good idea to give it a good cleaning.....2 hours later, I'm questioning my thought process. Pictures to show the work in progress. I also used a bottle of cleaner, wax that was sent to me by Drum-Bum. See for yourself.

So all in all it went really well. That Crazy John's spray cleaner sold at Drum-Bum really works great. only 6 more drums to go.

Congrats on finding those nice heads! Interesting combos.
After seeing that Slingerland Kit. I think I’m going to buy that chrome spray paint for my MIJ kit transformation. Spray lugs copper and rims brass maybe. I was thinking of doing steampunk style but with machine related parts, dials and bx cable... etc. Not sure yet.

I was thinking of covering a kit with that shiny house duct tape. The chrome looking stuff, not the grey or black.

I checked my email to see if the mods had fixed my problem of not being able to post pictures. I'm a new member here and just bought a brand new kit that I want to show off. But it says I do not have permission for attachments. Hopefully they will fix the issue soon.
Anyway, Hello everyone!
Love that finish!
Scored my first Tama Kit cheap!
A nice Tama Stagestar. 10,12,14,18”
Came with a cymbal stand and a Paiste 2002 16” medium crash. Cymbal had a crack and I repaired it.
Sellers picture.

The Varukers.
Used this the other day. I’m pleased with how they worked out. The second tom was weighted down somewhat so I wedged a plastic container under the tom arm. It doubled as a jam block..lol. Maybe that’s what I’ll mount there in the future or just put a floor tom leg mount on the second tom and a rod to adjust to the ground.

I changed out some of the stock heads on the DW kit. I kept the kick drum resonate head, but changed out the stock batter for an EMAD head, then I put EC2 batter heads on the toms. I ordered an Evans Genera Dry batter head for my snare, but they sent a resonate head instead. Once I get the batter in I will change it out as well.
Six Piece Mapex Saturn V, Five Piece DW Performance Series, NOS Slingerland Snares, Centent Ardor and Emperor Cymbals
Nothing with drums per se but started changing out the crappy light fixtures on the basement practice room with some that'll actually light. Great concept.
