Got a cool video with congas, bongos, or other hand percussion? This is the place to go, bro'! Might as well start it with one of my favorites: Samuel Torres...playin' SEVEN conga drums!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QjGgc1UkkU

Man, that's a goal for me!

If you thought playing seven congas was awesome, wait'll you see this dude from Argentina!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRnge7iSaGs

(by the way, I left a comment under my YouTube nickname, since someone else already took "bongobro" there! If you know Spanish, you'll have fun translating the commentary)

    Enjoy, bongo-bangers!

Damn, I thought this was going to be a video of you BongoBro. I'd really like to see you play your hand drums.

There's a couple of good videos of Assaf Seewi (?) playing Conga's and such on Youtube.

Sometimes, you don't even need bongos to be a hand drummer! Dig this 1968 Plymouth commercial from a Petula Clark TV special...

(Do NOT try this on any '68 Plymouth Fury that looks this good today!)

Amazing, Tom, they don't even hand-drum on a flat surface until they're 2/3 of the way through the video!

One of the classics from 1965..."For Your Love" by the Yardbirds

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8HAk_5yuU4

I didn't realize this for many years, but when the original tune was recorded, the recording played back a bit faster than expected. The British call this a "rave-up," but many a bongo player back then was more than a bit frustrated because they couldn't play it as fast as the Yardbirds did!

Truth is, many bongo players still can't (yours truly included!)

Vinny, awesome video, man...I have never seen a tabla player so relaxed as he played. May not be the right term for this kind of music, but he was groovin' big-time!

    Thanks, bro'!

In a few weeks, "I Love Lucy" will celebrate the 56th anniversary of its original broadcast (October 15, 1951)...a few weeks later, Desi Arnaz did the first of many renditions of his signature song, "Babalu"...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAV3bOJaQuY (forgive the title of the clip, but this is Desi doin' what he did best with a conga drum)...

and a few weeks later comes the 51st anniversary of the show-stopping conga duet with Desi and Keith Thibodeaux ("Little Ricky"), from "The Ricardos Go to Cuba" (December 1956)...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0Rwk2F5qR8

If these don't make you want to grab a conga (or other drummable object) and jam along, you'd better check your pulse...

    Now you're talkin'!!!!

It's rushed! Typical of live performance, but to me it's uncomfortable. It's not sittin' back in a pocket.

    Cool

That's one of the few things I don't like about live performances...you get the feeling the band's playin' "Beat the Clock" instead of "beat the bongos"...

    tryintogetasmanysongsastheycaninbetweenbreaks--

    sotheycangetoffthestage--

    andrushtothenextbloodygig...

what a letdown, man! To me, bands like that sound like they'd rather be anywhere else than playin'...

    Nice finds 2slow. Good stuff.

I have to agree with drummer on the Doobie Bros video though, it sounds horrible cuz' it is way too fast. Sounds like the singer can barely even keep up.

DC, it's nice to see your interested in the hand drums, but do you have the cajones to play them?
