    Question Paiste 502 , semi-cut crash cymbals

I found some Paiste 502 Crash cymbals , with 2 smooth cuts in the perimeter ( in the form of a semi-circle)

what is the reason for this ?

better decay , smoother highs ?

    please advise

If you mean that semi-circles have been cut out of the outside edge of the cymbal, this would because the cymbal cracked along the edge, which was fixed by scooping out this section of the cymbal.

It'll keep the cymbal going a while longer, but not indefinitely. It means the cymbal is old and is fatigued.
