Default My restoration of a Premier Heavy Rock Nine snare

Well here it is, finally! My Premier Heavy Rock Nine snare drum from the mid to late 80's. I bought this snare @ a local drum shop brand new over twenty years ago. This snare is unbelievably loud and projecting, as you could imagine from it's 9" deep brass shell. This thing is a beast! It can definitely rock! Sorry, but the wife erased the before pics that I had on our camera. Yeah, she thinks all my drum stuff is meaningless! Atleast she can't ruin my after pics. The drum had it's normal pitting and tarnish due to the age of the drum. I really didn't think about restoring this snare until I was searching online and found out that this snare is pretty rare. Well, here you go! OK, can't figure out how to put pics up! HELP!!!

You need to host them on a 3rd party site like photobucket, then copy and paste the IMG link. Can't wait to see it!

On Photobucket, there will be a list of links to each picture. Find the one that is the image (IMG) link and copy and paste into your post.

Yes that's the original strainer. I believe they made the drum with two different strainers from the information I have gathered. I did fit the drum with Fat Cat snares.

CD, that is one "controlled acoustic" snare! What a beautiful snare. Even though there are no "before" pics, it is obvious that you did a nice job of restoring it, given it's age. WTG!

That must be a monster! I remember Sonor made one back in the day that was similar...I think it needed a special heavy duty stand. It weighed like 45 pounds! Anyway...nice job on the restoration. I did it with a bronze Tama shell I bought on the Bay and it is a favorite of mine. Enjoy!

I actually believe there were three that were used during the life of the Heavy Rock NINE.

    There's the one on yours.

Also the Flowbeam strainer. I'm not sure which came first.

Then they used the same one that was on the Signia series Snares from the late 90's that lasted until the snare was discontinued.

They also stopped using those honking heavy die cast hoops late in the drum's cycle and swtiched to triple flanged. Mine was like that one.
I might scoop up the one that's on eBay right now to remember my early drumming days of my late teens...
