Re: Anyone familiar with "Engrish"?
I don't have glamorous pictures, but these excerpts from the 1970 Toyota Corona Mark II owner's manual demonstrate what happens when Engrish "words get in the way" of car care:
ACCESSING THE REAR SEAT:
"To enter the rear of the Hardtop, pull up incline adjusting lever to move the back rest of the codriver's seat forward."
(You mean it takes two people to drive a '70 Corona Mark II?)
MAINTAINING YOUR AIR CLEANER:
"Do not blow element with high pressure."
(High pressure WHAT?)
SELF ADJUSTING BRAKES:
"During this auto-adjusting operation a mechanical sound may be heard, but this is not a sign of brake defect."
(One only hopes it isn't your car rolling back into the car behind you.)
APPEARANCE CARE:
"Your car should not be parked in direct exposure to sunlight for longer periods."
(So you can park in direct exposure to sunlight for only a few moments at a time?)
keep the beat goin' ... Don't keep it to yourself!
