Have used Vater 3A Fatback for years but recently have lost the tips from 3 brand new sticks, bad batch or something I'm doing wrong?

Try the Vic Firth sticks.
The tips are made not to come off anymore.

I agree. I rarely have this problem with the Vics. But, yeah, it may have been a bad batch. It happens.

Man that sucks when that happens. 3 pair...sounds like a bad batch. Switch to Vics and see if the quality control is better.

Same here. Nylon tips fly off Promarks whenever I buy a pair, though. I know that VF are fairly durable as well.

I have 2b vic grips with nylon tips and they haven't failed on me yet. I've had them for about a month, but... My wood 5a vic's that i've had since... Febuary/January? also haven't come off yet, and i've beaten the hell out of them so much you might as well call them angels. I don't think that there's a problem with your technique, but maybe it's just a sign to go out and grab some Vic's

zildijin sticks are nice and light but i dont like there tips

I use Los Cabos 5a nylon tips and have never had any problems with tips coming off and I have used this pair over a year now. The stick usually wears out before the tips.

Could be bad batch, switch to another brand for a couple months this way you can see if it is your technique and if all is well switch back after a few months and see if they resolved their problem with your original sticks.

When I buy new sticks I do two things to test them.Firstly I roll them along a flat surface, usually the shop counter, to check they are straight. Then, as I always use nylon tips, I try to pull the tips off. If they are made correctly this should not be possible but if they do come off then they are rejected as sub standard.
