Peter Kay "Weather-Machine" Series (w Visuals)
Hey, I'm a New York-based drummer, educator and music journalist. Check out some of my Improvisational Solos, called "Weather-Machine".
The story behind the name is simple, really: The day before I was set to go in and track, there was a 3.8 earthquake near Long Island, where my home is. This is unheard of, for us Long Islanders. The next day, on my way to the studio to record, we had high-speed- almost hurricane- winds, torrential rain and trees were falling over parkways and houses. To get myself in the zone I decided I'd focus on the idea of malevolent natural forces, as a concept for the patterns I would be playing. So needless to say there is a lot of groove and some dynamic shifts throughout the pieces that are somewhat unpredictable. This also gave a lot of the rhythms a very tribal/tom-based perspective. There are also a lot of cool visuals lol Check it out for yourself! I hope you enjoy!
