Have you heard it recorded? With music like that? At those volume levels?
I tried different tunings, and some I got to sound really good without the snare wires on. But when I put on the snare wire, the sound just like cuts through your ear, it's really articulate, cutting, and loud. How do I lessen that?
I'm trying to make my snare sound like this, and tuning guidelines for reso and batter on how to do that?

you must remember that the snare sound in that song is is from a studio . you'll never get your drum to sound like that without all the outboard gear that they use in a studio.

thanks, but do you guys know how to make my snare less articulate and more fat sounding?
What kind of snare are you playing? Maybe try a different wood or metal, or a different size.

I'd say fewer strands on the snare bed is a good idea to get a mellower, less cutting sound.
