    Default Having Trouble.....

I'm having trouble keeping my sticks an inch from my practice pad. I read and have been told that this is essential, is this true? Any advice is welcomed because I'm having trouble with this and I'm starting to get frustrated. I tend to want to beat the shiza out of my practice pad when I'm playing instead of relaxing and I was reading a lot last night on how important it is to practice with your sticks and inch from the surface.........

Well i've never been told an [B]exact[B] inch but it is good to let your sticks rebound abit instead on holding them to the pad after a stroke. Just try and relax and let your sticks rebound a bit above the pad

the reason for this is for you to learn how to play with better control and dynamics. be patient it will pay off.

A small tip, if you find ourself "Wanting to beat the shiza out of your practice pad instead of relaxing" Just stop for a minute and take some deep breaths. When you start again REALLY concentrate on staying relaxed and not letting yourself get tense.
