I have built up speed and strength in my left hand (finally) but after a long time of it being completely useless I've lost all faith in it. And when I get to say a 16th around the kit I panic and I either hit my sticks together or drop my left one. This only happens in songs though, practise I don't do this - but in application I do.

Anything I can do to build confidence in this hand?

    Next and final question.

I'm learning to play King Nothing - Metallica and I can't get the Accents on the Hi-Hats in the intro and Hi-Hat to snare later on.

Anyone learnt this song can help/give tips?

No worries...now that you can do 16th notes, start practicing them with accents on the down beats. So, for the following measure, the numbers fall on the down beats.

    1-e-n-a-2-e-n-a-3-e-n-a-4-e-n-a

Then, start practicing this with the accents on the down beats as well as the preceding 'a'. This will allow you to play the accents leading with the left hand. This is pretty much what Lars is doing...then adding the bass drum on 2 and 4. Good luck !

Quit thinking about what you're doing, relax and play.
